Rekey a car - is it possible and what is the cost to rekey a car?
If your car keys were stolen or lost and you're afraid someone might steal your car, rekeying your car may seem like the right thing to do, however, most of the times it's unnecessary. Unless the car is extremely old, most likely the lost or stolen key had a chip in it. Using our tools we can connect to the computer of the vehicle and erasing that specific key from the system, ensuring the lost key won't be able to start the car anymore. We can then make a new key that will, so you will be the only one who can start your car. The old key may still work on the doors and the trunk, so rekeying the car itself would only make sense in cases where you keep valuable items inside (which is not recommended anyway). If you considered all the options and want us to rekey your car, we would happily do it. There are several different ways to do it, and it changes from car to car, so our locksmith will meet you on site, and together you can decide on the best solution of the situation.
